About 500 people in the Kaliningrad region will soon lose their jobs. The reason for this is the reduction of the production capacities of the Avtotor concern by almost 50%.

Recall, a couple of days ago, General Motors made an official statement about the departure from the Russian market of such mass brands as Opel and Chevrolet. Already today, production on the basis of the Kaliningrad Avtotor has been stopped, in the near future work at the factory in St. Petersburg and, followed, in Nizhny Novgorod on the basis of the GAZ Group concern.

The representative of Avtotor noted that last year the plant produced only 185 thousand models, instead of the planned 220 thousand. Such non -fulfillment of outdated indicators was noted primarily in the General Motors brands segment .

After a loud statement, competitive automakers instantly reacted. Brands Hyundai, Toyota, Ford and Nissan will remain in the Russian market and plan to further develop production.

Of course, General Motors does not intend to leave the Russian market forever, you just have to wait for a more successful economic situation, but for now, other manufacturers will “punish” the liberated niche.
