The slab foundation is essentially a monolithic plate that holds the entire structure. To build it, it is necessary to dig a large foundation pit, during this, heavy equipment is usually used, since it is very difficult to do this with manual labor. After all the land work is completed, reinforcement should be organized in the pit, and throughout its area. The last stage in the construction of such a foundation is the filling of concrete.
This type of foundation is used only in the construction of small buildings, since its arrangement for a large house will require titanic work and, in addition, giant costs. As for the soil, most often such foundations are installed on bulk soils and sandstones. It is also worth mentioning that the slab foundations are simply indispensable on unstable soils and in those areas that have a high level of groundwater. The construction of this foundation is technologically easier than the construction of a strip or pile, but it requires much more building materials. And as already mentioned earlier, this foundation requires an unrealistically large amount of work both by digging the pit and by pouring it with concrete.
