The Lamborghini Silhouette model was first represented by Lamborghini under the P118 factory index at the Geneva Motor Show in 1976. This car was positioned as a replacement of the hopes of developers and buyers of the Lamborghini Urraco supercar.
To minimalize development costs and probable problems in production, when assembling Lamborghini Silhouette Lamborghini used a lot of design details from Lamborghini Urraco. However, the engine decided to modernize. The capacity of the same eight-cylinder unit with an average arrangement built by Paolo Stanzani increased to 3 liters, due to which the power increased to 250 horsepower. Improved characteristics allowed the car to overcome the mark of 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, the indicator of the maximum speed reached 250 km/h.
Targa type body was traditionally developed for most brand cars in Bertone workshop. The design was a set of technological perfection and elegance, with a uniform distribution of mass. The interior Lamborghini Silhouette was not much different from the predecessor salon. At the request of the buyer, he could be trimmed with leather or fabric.
Having debuted on a car show in Geneva, the car instantly achieved public sympathy. Lamborghini Silhouette prophesied the prosperous future, but the incoming financial crisis prevented this. As a result, only 52 copies of the model went off the Lamborgin conveyor.
