Acura’s representatives showed the MDX crossover concept prototype in January-at the Detroitovsky Motorshow, while clarifying that the production of new items starts this year. But, the Japanese turned out to be much more promptly than expected – the serial version of the last generation MDX will be demonstrated at the end of this month.
The appearance of the novelty can be judged by the exterior of the prototype. As for the platform, there is no information about it for now. Representatives of the company limited themselves only to a promise that it is completely new and in all respects is optimized, so that the crossover has increased comfort, improved dynamics, and impressive economy.
A little more is known about power plants. The serial car will be equipped with an unit of 3.5 liters with the I-VTEC system and the option of disconnecting part of the working cylinders. The same engine is used on the last generation of Honda Accord, however, for a more weighty MDX, it will be “dispersed” from the previous 280 to new 310 “horses”. The novelty will be available in two modifications – with a full or front -wheel drive. By the way, as for the option of 4 x 4, we emphasize that this car will also receive the SH-AWD system.
It should also be mentioned that the novelty has been called the elongated base. According to the comments of the developers, most of the centimeters have gone to increase the spaciousness for passengers of the third and second row. The list of equipment will also be expanded, for example, added: adaptive cruise control, an option for tracking invisible zones, a system for supporting a row of movement, as well as a function of preventing probable clashes.
Most likely, it is in this form that the new MDX will appear on our domestic car market – the start of the car sales is scheduled for the next year.
